Maccreanor Lavington architects were one of the architects working as part of the 2001 masterplanning team on the redevelopment of the Aylesbury Estate, Southwark. The Estate presents a mono-functional environment. The proposals all built on the need to provide choice and variety of accommodation and external spaces between the various neighbourhoods that were to be created and a mix in terms of tenure, housing, commercial and community facilities.

The Estate suffers from separation between pedestrian and vehicular routes. Key routes through the estate would be reinforced as pedestrian, vehicular and cycle routes. Principle routes would link the estate back into its surroundings and careful consideration of others would aim to give pedestrians and cyclists priority over the car. Home zones and other traffic calming methods would create a well-overlooked, safer and quieter environment for both residents and passers by.

Maccreanor Lavington have subsequently been commissioned to create a new masterplan for the regeneration of the estate.
