Anne Mews wins British Construction Industry Award

Anne Mews, a residential quarter of 31 new houses in Barking designed by Maccreanor Lavington and Allford Hall Monoghan Morris, has been awarded the British Construction Industry Regeneration Award in a ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London.
The scheme, completed in April 2011, forms the first phase of the wider King William Street Quarter Masterplan and provides the first new council houses in the borough for 25 years.

St Andrews shortlisted for Brick Award

St Andrews a 230 unit urban block in East London designed by Maccreanor Lavington the second phase of the Allies and Morrisons masterplan has been shortlisted for the Brick Development Associations Brick Awards ‘Best Housing Development – 26 Units or More’.
The scheme enjoys a language of simple well-proportioned punched brick openings with bespoke varied brick blends - a dark mix to the streets and a light mix to the courtyard.
The Awards will be held at the Marriott Grosvenor Square, London on the evening of Wednesday 2nd November.

St.Andrews wins Housing Design Award

Phases 1 and 2 of the St Andrew’s Housing development, designed by Maccreanor Lavington and Allies & Morrison have been awarded three Housing Design Awards at a ceremony at Portcullis House, London . The scheme won a Housing design Award, as well as the Graham Pye Award for 'plan form best suited to family living' and the ‘Community Consultation Award’

H10 Waterloo Hotel awarded

MaccreanorLavington's H10 Waterloo Hotel has won an RIBA award and a New London Architecture Award 2011. The awards recognised projects which "add huge value to the lives, prosperity, health and pride of their owners, users and communities." (Ruth Reed RIBA President)

Grunobuurt blok 7 shortlisted best building

Maccreanor Lavington's Grunobuurt blok 7, Traverse, has been shortlisted for the Gouden Baksteen (Golden Brick) – best building in the city of Groningen. Prizes will be awarded by public vote and professionals (Anne Luijten, Johannes Kappler and Scief Houben). Winners will be announced at a ceremony on June 24th.

Work continues on Maccreanor Lavington’s Metrostation Kraaiennest in Amsterdam. The platform is now open to the public with work progressing on finishing the main entrance.

King’s Cross Central block R5 starts on site

Work has started on Maccreanor Lavington’s residentially led scheme in the Kings Cross Central masterplan. Block ‘R5 North’ will comprise 144 apartments, 40 of which form an Extra Care Housing facility, a series of street front commercial units and a variety of external communal spaces. The courtyard based block, which reaches to 16 storey high is located on York Way and forms one of the early phases of Argent’s Kings Cross Central masterplan.

H10 London Waterloo Hotel shortlisted for RIBA Awards for London.

Maccreanor Lavington's H10 Waterloo Hotel has been shortlisted for the 'RIBA Awards for London 2011.' The awards are given for buildings that demonstrate high architectural standards and make a substanial cotribution to the local environment. Winners will be announced at a ceremony at the V&A on May 19th.

Barrier Park East Block D starts on site

Work has started on Maccreanor Lavington’s Barrier Park East residential scheme. Block D will comprise 156 apartments and 11 townhouses for a range of tenures. The L-shaped, 14 storey apartment building and neighbouring terraced townhouses are located on the eastern edge of the masterplan, which was prepared by Allies and Morrison.

Maccreanor Lavington win Hotel & Leisure Architect of the Year, Architect of the Year Awards 2010

Maccreanor Lavington won the category of Hotel and Leisure Architect of the Year at this year’s ceremony, held on 4th November. The award was for a group of projects - the completed H10 Hotel in London, and two schemes still at project stage: Bickershaw Country Park Visitor Centre in Wigan, and the Royal Docks Hotel Cluster in London. The judge’s report stated: “...the H10 Hotel brilliantly answers the challenges of a highly complex urban situation”

Work has started on Maccreanor Lavington’s Oosterdokseiland project, which will comprise a mix of social and private housing with commercial space. Commencement of work on plot 2 follows the completion of the basement levels, designed by Zwarts & Jansma, with Maccreanor Lavington designing plot 2CD. Located in close proximity to Amsterdam’s Central Station, the urban plan for the site was prepared by Erick van Egeraat.

Grunobuurt blok 7 starts on site

Work has started on Maccreanor Lavington’s Grunobuurt blok 7, which will comprise a mix of 47 social and private dwellings, a parking garage and commercial space. Blok 7 is the first project to be realised within an urban design prepared by de Zwarte Hond, which consists of 8 blocks designed by 3 architects. Maccreanor Lavington has designed 2 of the 3 blocks for phase 1. Grunobuurt will have an advanced collective heating/cooling system and highly insulated houses, with all blocks using patterned brickwork related to the original Grunobuurt.

MaccreanorLavington win Masterplanner of the Year Award, Architect of the Year Awards 2009

Maccreanor Lavington’s win was announced at the Architect of the Year Awards ceremony in London. The award recognises a body of work and not a specific project. Maccreanor Lavington submitted 4 projects; Stage 2 Sub-Framework Plan of Barking Riverside; Basildon Town centre regeneration; the Bishopsgate Goodsyard and the Whitefield conservation area regeneration in Nelson. The four projects show different aspects of our role within the masterplanning process.
The judges said Maccreanor Lavington “design modern places which fit their historic context, which is surely the rule in all place making”.

Gerard Maccreanor appointed to CABE Eco-towns Design Review Panel

Gerard Maccreanor has been appointed to the Eco-towns Design Review Panel at CABE, the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment; the government’s advisor’s on architecture, urban design and the public space. As part of the specialist eco-towns panel, he will provide expert design advice on the quality of the government’s proposed eco-towns.

Dwelling: Accordia – new book launched

Dwelling: Accordia documents the award winning housing project which is the result of a collaboration between Feilden Clegg Bradley, Alison Brooks, Grant Associates and Maccreanor Lavington. The book is written by Keith Bradley, Paul Drew (Accordia resident), Colen Lumley and Ivor Richards. Dwelling: Accordia is published by and available from Black Dog, along with architectural book shops and usual outlets.
Planning Permission for Barking Riverside

Stages 1 and 2 of Barking Riverside, the largest housing development in the Thames Gateway, have received planning permission. Maccreanor Lavington, KCAP and Gustafson Porter worked together on Stage 2 which comprises almost 2,000 housing units of varying typologies, integrated landscaping and long term transport strategies.
De Klare Bron cited as exemplar for future schools

A delegation including Frank Vandenbroucke (Flemish minister for education) and Marcel Smets (Vlaams Bouwmeester) visited De Klare Bron to promote the need for design quality in educational facilities. The school was cited as an exemplar for future projects.
