This project seeks to meet the London Borough of Southwarks aspiration to transform Canada Water into an active and viable town centre; a new destination for high quality local shopping, eating and leisure activities set in generous public space along the waterfront.

The mixed-use development includes 16,643m retail (A1A4), 698m cultural/leisure (D2), 658m health (D1) and 2,800m business (B1), 1,046 residential units (C3) and 1.89ha of public open space. Key components include 1,000 new homes, high quality retail stores, waterside restaurants and cafes, community sports facilities, including a tennis court, additional tree planting and provision of private amenity spaces, and improved access to Canada Water and the Albion Channel.

Maccreanor Lavington have taken on the role as masterplanners of the scheme and are also architects for Phase 1 a mixed-use urban block that re-provides a large Decathlon sports store and head office currently occupying the majority of the site. The store occupies the lower levels of the plinth with residential cores above arranged around a large landscaped courtyard that sits on top of the store. We have worked alongside Vogt Landscape , David Chipperfield Architects and Claus en Kaan Architecten, who have prepared designs for the subsequent phases in the masterplan.
