Fiona Smallshaw Selected for the 2025 RA Summer Exhibition
We’re delighted to share that Fiona Smallshaw from Maccreanor Lavington has been selected for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2025, the world’s longest-running open-submission art exhibition.
This is a remarkable achievement, recognising her powerful photographic work among thousands of entries submitted from across the UK and beyond.
Fiona’s selected works are two striking black and white photographs that delve into the layered materiality of York Way, a major estate regeneration project.
Through her lens, she captures not just the physical textures of the built environment, but the emotional and social complexities embedded in urban transformation. Her images offer a quiet, observational depth, reflecting on permanence and change, concrete and memory.
Being chosen for the Summer Exhibition is no small feat. Open to artists at all stages of their careers, it is known for its fiercely competitive selection process and for showcasing some of the most compelling work being made today.
Fiona’s inclusion is a testament to her unique ability to bridge architecture and visual storytelling.
We congratulate Fiona on this well-deserved recognition and look forward to seeing her work on the walls of the RA this summer.
