Jane MacCuish joins Glasgow School of Art, Architecture Department for Friday lecture series.
Head of New Business, Jane MacCuish participates in the Glasgow School of Art, Architecture Department Friday lecture series.
This term, ten lectures are being delivered under the working the title of “Research in Practice”. Jane explored how projects in her earlier career have shaped her interests, approach and process contributing to the places we call home.
The themes of regenerative design, equitable spaces in the city and how to create environments that open up conversations about transformation with communities, were explored.
Jane shared four projects undertaken by Maccreanor Lavington, with a focus on the collaborative relationships between the practice and the landscape architects involved in the schemes at Accordia in Cambridge, Red Bank in Manchester, South Gardens in Southwark and York Way Estate in Islington.
She discussed the vital contribution of public realm and landscape in creating good parts of our cities. Well-designed green spaces can support health, well-being, social interaction and can give daily delight to the lived experience.
Jane trained as a landscape architect at Edinburgh College of Art and prior to becoming Head of New Business at Maccreanor Lavington worked on landscape led projects of all scales.
We hope, in the year ahead that Glasgow School of Art’s Missing in Architecture group will be in London, where we would love to continue the conversations about Equality + Diversity; Education + Inspiration; Identity + Practice; The Future www.missinginarchitecture.net
Thank you to Nick Walker of Glasgow School of Art for the invitation.
