Mentorship with Accelerate

20.02.2025

During the February half term, we had the pleasure of supporting Open City’s Accelerate Studios programme, welcoming several students to Maccreanor Lavington for mentorship with our architects.

The initiative offers students exploring careers in the built environment the chance to be paired with members of our team and get a behind-the-scenes look at the industry.

The Open City programme runs throughout the academic year, providing students with the opportunity to explore whether a career in the built environment sector is right for them.

While with us, the students had the chance to create their own models and engage in discussions about pursuing a career in architecture and urbanism.

Architect, David Stark said: “It was an incredibly successful and enjoyable 3 days with 5 students of the Open City Accelerate programme. We were able to take the initial concepts of designing a kiosk around the theme of togetherness and help guide the students to creating their own design briefs, conceptual collages, and final model, all centred around the historic Smithfield Market. The students were full of creativity and inquisitive about architecture and the education pathway, which made for a really entertaining few days. These experiences with Open City will help the students get ready for studying architecture in the next year or two.”
