Plans approved for new Kensal Canalside neighbourhood
Ballymore and Sainsbury’s plans for a major new canalside neighbourhood (Project Flourish) in Ladbroke Grove have been consented.
The neighbourhood will deliver new homes for London on a 19-acre brownfield site in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, a large proportion of which has been closed off to the public for over 40 years as a former gasworks. Cemetery.
Maccreanor Lavington have assisted Falkner Brown in the preparation of illustrative designs for Plot 04 within the Masterplan for Kensal Canalside. Plot 4 sits in a pivotal position at the heart of the masterplan, nestled in the curve of the Grand Union Canal and facing Kensal Green Cemetery.
The illustrative designs drawing inspiration from West London’s rich architectural traditions as well as the site’s industrial past, the design combines a reinstated wharf with elegant mansion blocks and a landmark tower creating high-quality homes with exceptional outlooks. The buildings are carefully splayed to follow the curve of the canal, creating a sequence of courtyards and green spaces opening up long views to the water and cemetery.
“We’re thrilled to be part of the Kensal Canalside project, it’s an exceptional opportunity to help shape a vibrant new canalside neighbourhood in West London. Reaching this important milestone is a testament to the collaborative spirit of everyone involved, and we’re excited to see the team’s vision for this place getting one step closer to being realised.”
