Affordable estate regeneration shortlisted at Planning Award 2023

18.04.2023

Our design for the regeneration of the York Way Estate in London for the City of London Corporation has been shortlisted at this years’ Planning Awards.

The annual award showcases the outstanding work across the planning and placemaking sectors and recognises excellence in planning and associated placemaking disciplines, including heritage conservation, urban design, economic development, partnership working, environmental consultancy, housing and law.

The York Way Estate was identified by the City Corporation to deliver more social housing for local people and provide 91 additional social homes on the estate.

Our team worked closely with a Residents Steering Group and existing residents to establish an understanding of the exiting estate and residents’ concerns and aspirations for the future development. A ‘Residents Design Brief’ was developed to set out key priorities and resident-led guidelines and formed the starting point for design proposals to sensitively integrate new homes into the well-established community.

York Way will also deliver comprehensive estate-wide landscape improvements and new play spaces designed by Erect Architecture, for existing and new residents.

The winners will be announced on June 8th 2023.
