Our project Kraaiennest Metro Station in Amsterdam features in Architizer’s 7 outrageously creative metro station designs.
We designed a new ground floor entrance to the metro station which needed upgrading. The decorative laser-cut steel screen allows natural light to flood in whilst creating a textured pattern to the façade.
At night time the design allows the station to act like a lantern for the local neighbourhood and the light beaming out from the material allows people to easily find the entrance. Steel was the material of choice as it weathers well.
The project was awarded a RIBA Award in 2014.
