Ibstock Place School team collect AJ Award 2021

23.11.2021

Ibstock Place School has been successful again in the annual architectural award season 2021. The intricate timber refectory has been awarded a prestigious AJ Award for Best School project in the UK, last month it collected two Structural Timber Awards, Project of the Year and Sold Wood Project.

The Architects Journal Awards celebrates the creativity and achievements within British architecture.

The school refectory building was seen by the AJ judges and evaluated from a sustainable design standpoint – including how passive environmental factors have influenced the project, how the design has addressed embodied energy, and predicted operational energy use. Issues of how the scheme has met or exceeded the brief, how it has promoted community engagement and how it has excelled in the use of space or sense of place were also key.

The design for the private co-educational day school for pupils aged four to 18 years wowed the judges: ‘Blows your socks off in terms of the architecture,’ said one.

Congratulations to our team and all of the consultants
