Gavin Finnan
Gavin graduated from the Architectural Association in London in 1998 as an honours candidate. He worked with Florian Beigel, Nicolas Grimshaw, and Gunter Behnisch before joining Maccreanor Lavington in 2003 as Project Architect on the Stirling prize-winning Accordia housing development in Cambridge. He became an Associate Director in 2013 and has been an active member of the Senior Team with management oversight over several aspects of our work including BIM and numerous areas of professional practice.
He has successfully led projects of all scales including masterplans, large scale regeneration projects, residential and mixed-use projects of varying sizes as well as smaller specific responses to tight urban sites and historic environments.
His more recent projects have included the design of South Gardens, the first phase of Lendlease’s regeneration of the former Haygate Estate in Southwark, Porters Edge a large-scale mixed-use densification of the town center at Canada Water and Garden Halls, a 1,200 room student halls of residence for the University of London in Bloomsbury where the practice lead on the design of the façade.
He has particular expertise in several offsite construction techniques, including the use of CLT and pre-cast brickwork façades. He is passionate about sustainability and led on the design of the practices award-winning Passivhaus homes in Elephant Park. Gavin has experience in all areas of residential design as well as the emerging alternative residential sector including build to rent and student housing.
Gavin is also a visiting critic at The Welsh School of Architecture at Cardiff University.
