BA (hons), BArch, ADPPA, ARB

Tom is a Senior Associate and oversees education and community projects at Maccreanor Lavington, with 15 years professional experience in the sector. He is passionate about maximising outcomes for building users and seeking opportunities to add value through design.

Tom has gained a broad knowledge of education design and provision through his close collaboration with schools and colleges. He is currently a member of the School Advisory Board for Meath School, a specialist speech and language school in Surrey. Tom’s built work ranges from single room nursery extensions to large, complex, new-build secondary schools. He has contributed to education strategy at masterplan level and acted in an advisory role as an assessor for the GLA’s FE College programme. His involvement at early stages has helped to enhance the viability of education projects and increase co-location with community facilities for an extended curriculum offer.

Tom has contributed to the debate on densification of schools, through his work in Southwark, Camden and most recently LB Havering. He is an advocate for design solutions which champion equitable access to outdoor play space and promote positive civic identity. He takes an active role in the wider debate on architecture and is currently an architectural assessor for the Civic Trust and a member of the Bromley Design Review Panel.

He is keen to support the next generation of architects and currently acts as a professional examiner for the Part 3 courses at the University of Brighton, University of Cambridge and UCL.
