Maccreanor Lavington joins the RIBA’s Principal Designer Register

13.03.2024

Our Head of Technical Design, Daniel Clift has received accreditation from the RIBA to undertake the Building Regulations Principal Designer role for HRBs (higher risk buildings). He joins only 13 other architects in the UK currently on the RIBA’s Principal Designer Register, of whom only 9 are certified to undertake this role for HRBs.

The RIBA Principal Designer Register is the list of individual RIBA Chartered Members in the UK that have demonstrated their knowledge, skills, experience, and behaviours to support the duty holder role under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 and the new principal designer role under the amended Building Regulations.

A higher-risk building (HRB) is defined as a building in England that:

  • is at least 18m in height or has at least 7 storeys; and
  • contains at least 2 residential units
