Revisiting buildings old and new in Barking & Dagenham
A few of the ML team enjoyed a trip around Barking and Dagenham in East London to see established and recent projects in the borough.
First stop: William Street Quarter, by Maccreanor Lavington and AHMM which delivered 100% affordable housing for the Borough. The scheme recently celebrated its tenth birthday. The homes are located on Anne and William mews, with landscaping by Gillespies. Anne Mews is now also home to the playful “House for Artists” by Apparata.
Rounding off the afternoon was an inspiring tour led by Archio of their 19-home scheme for BeFirst at 200 Becontree Avenue – set across two villas the gentle density of the new homes has been delivered in harmony with the original estate, carving out a generous garden entrance at its heart.
