Ibstock Place School Refectory is honoured with RIBA National Award
The multi award winning Ibstock Place School Refectory has been given yet more recognition by being awarded a prestigious RIBA National Award, following the RIBA Regional London Award.
The RIBA awards are now 50 years old and celebrate the best architecture in the UK and around the world , no matter the form, size or budget.
Ibstock Place School Refectory, a private co-educational day school for pupils aged four to 18 years, was completed in 2021 and has gone onto to win many design and architectural awards – this being the most prominent.
The brief for the new refectory asked to replace existing piecemeal facilities – a small single-storey brick building, uPVC conservatory and two wooden cabins – into a single purpose-built building, whilst maintaining an ancient orchard.
The RIBA 2022 judges commented: ‘The Maccreanor Lavington project team should also be commended for the extensive work undertaken to protect the existing natural heritage of the site, including mature London Plane trees, as well as adding to the ecological value through additional habitat creation.’
Congratulations to the team!
