We welcome social historian, John Broughton into the studio.

18.04.2023

Author and social historian John Broughton visited our studio to give us an comprehensive architectural tour of some of the best and most interesting UK housing estates, from Victorian origins to Twentieth Century estates,

Municipal Dreams: The Rise & Fall of Social Housing presents an alternative history of the United Kingdom. This history begins in the slum clearances of the late nineteenth century and the aspirations of those who would build anew. John Boughton looks at how and why the state’s duty to house its people decently became central to our politics.

His story visits planners and architects through the ages who wanted to elevate working men and women through design.
