Blazej Czuba

Blazej combines residential and masterplanning experience with the knowledge of the local planning system. He has worked both in private sector in architecture and urban design, and in public sector in development management and policy. He first joined Maccreanor Lavington in 2012 and leads the London team of the ML Urban Studio.

Over the years he has worked across various sectors, scales and workstages, from construction design of Blackfriars Circus, through to estate regeneration projects at Brent Cross South and industrial intensification masterplans at Bow Goods Yard or Lea Bridge Gateway, to suburban housing in Mayfield, St Albans and Harpenden. He has led the practice’s teams for our large masterplanning projects at Red Bank, Manchester and Bow Goods Yard, Stratford.

Alongside masterplanning and architecture, Blazej has been involved in several design coding, guidance and research projects, including leading design codes for Birkenhead and Blackpool, and most recently several research-led projects for Homes England, including on configuration, viability and deliverability of local centres.

He is a former Public Practice Associate and a Principal Urban Designer at St Albans District Council. Prior to joining ML, Blazej had worked for Herzog de Meuron in Basel, Weberbrunner Architekten in Zurich and Cube Architecten in Amsterdam.

He holds a first-class BSc in Architecture from the University of Bath. He graduated with distinction in MRes Urban Design from The Bartlett, UCL, and completed an postgraduate urban studies degree at Strelka Institute in Moscow. He is an awardee of the Scholar’s Prize in Architecture 2019 from the British School at Rome and his work contributed to two exhibitions in the Venice Biennale of Architecture. He has taught at the London School of Architecture and the Riga Technical University. He sits on the NLA ‘Expert Panel’ for Industrial and Logistics.
