Maria Joao Reis

Senior Associate
Dip. Arch, Post Grad. Urban Design, ARB (UK); OA (PT)

Maria is a Senior Associate with wide professional experience bridging most areas of our current work. She has a keen interest in regeneration projects and the shared role of architecture, urban design and landscape in the delivery of high quality built environment and public realm.

Maria led several of our mixed-use schemes, involving multidisciplinary teams and a variety of building types. She has developed work in sensitive historic contexts and complex urban sites, and gained experience in strategic development and regeneration, and preparation of briefing and design guidance documents.

Maria is enthusiastic about working collaboratively with other architectural practices within masterplan frameworks and reconciling objectives from multi-headed clients to deliver sustainable development. She enjoys and has extensive experience of working directly for local authority clients and housing associations, leading complex multiple stakeholders consultation and engaging closely with building users, having coordinated some of our initial post-occupancy building evaluation.

Maria takes an active role in the design discussion within the office and works closely with the internal teams overseeing designs at a variety of scales from early concepts through to site delivery.

Maria has led the Liddell Road development in West Hampstead for the London Borough of Camden, a mixed-use residential, education and workspace masterplan in a sensitive location which obtained planning and community support through extensive public consultation, having delivered its first phase – the RIBA National Award winning Kingsgate Infant School.
